Microwave ovens and conventional ovens are two of the most widely used devices in a kitchen, each with a different function. Going by their usage, one may conclude that both devices have their benefits, but most people normally prefer one over the other depending on their lifestyle.

Microwave ovens, which were invented in the middle of the last century, have greatly changed culinary culture with their convenience and speed of cooking. They operate based on electromagnetic waves, which make them amazing for warming up overnight foods, defrosting food, and heating up ready-made dishes. A microwave oven may become a good addition to the kitchen for people with very busy lives, students, or those who are not very good cooks, Which Alexis Mills said that ‘’microwaves are more teen friendly due to fact that many teens can’t cook well’’

On the flip side, conventional ovens or convection ovens have been a part of a kitchen for many years. They emit an equal and dry level of heat ideal for baking, roasting, and grilling. Ovens are a good option for cooks and food lovers and people who have immense patience because working with an oven takes time. But they offer a chance to work with flavors, texture, and variety. Chole Davis was asked if she would describe herself as an oven or microwave and she said ‘’ I would say I am an oven because i take my time to create things to make perfect such as schoolwork’’. 

Research studies using surveys and consumer reports show that, despite being used more in everyday activities, people have a preference for ovens rather than microwaves when it comes to good cooking.  Which aligns with Alexis Mills words ‘’ I prefer a oven because the microwave makes your food mushy and uncooked ‘’. Most end up using both in their homes depending on the meal they want to prepare. For instance, Nile Herrera was asked which appliance he uses, or which is more common in his home. ‘’Both are common in my home. ‘’ They can use a microwave in the morning for breakfast but an oven in the evening when preparing dinner.

Finally, when it comes to making a choice between a microwave and an oven, it is largely a matter of one’s lifestyle. A microwave is ideal for people with a fast-paced lifestyle, as Alexis Mills stated that ‘’ I prefer to use a microwave when I'm in a rush’’. while people who relish cooking and enjoying food prefer an oven. Although both appliances have their own significance in a kitchen, using both is clearly a win–win situation.
