As Friday approaches, the football game against McEachern seems to be the main topic of the school. With tickets selling out fast, many of Hillgrove High School’s students are going to fill up the bleachers and support their school as they face their biggest rivals. The “Georgia Public Broadcasting” website states, “No. 5 McEachern and No. 10 Hillgrove are both 7-0 overall and are 4-0 in region. Kickoff from Cobb Energy Hillgrove Stadium will be at 7:30 p.m. The game will be shown on GPB-TV and streamed live at GPB.org." With both High School’s undefeated during their current football season, the suspense fills the halls. Who will win and leave the other team with a loss?
With a big event such as this one, students are meant to have an enjoyable experience, but minor conflict can also occur. Shianne Dubose, a Junior at Hillgrove High School explains, “Like how crowded it's going to be when the game is over, trying to leave because there is going to be mad people there.” And she also says, “Yeah, they're definitely going to sell out because it'll be the biggest game." As many students gather up and all try to attend the game at once, it can lead to problems like students not being able to purchase tickets due to them being sold out, and traffic as students and parents try to exit at the same time after the game ends. With students from Hillgrove High School, and students from McEachern High School filling up the stadium, there are many possibilities on how this game can go.
While students fill the school with conversation about the football game on Friday, there is mixed opinions and thoughts. Both Hillgrove and McEachern have been doing well during their football season, leaving a lot of pressure on the football players. As they go out onto the field and strive to continue being undefeated, they are also representing Hillgrove. Andy Szatkowski, Hillgrove High School’s football defense coach says, “They've done a good job of working hard and just continuing to get better and build upon each week and learning what to do and trying to add new things so we can improve and get to where we want to go." With support from their coaches, and practicing every morning leading up to Friday, the Hillgrove football team will continue to do their best on the field. Students continue to wait with anticipation for Friday, with one question they want answered. Who will win and continue to be undefeated?
