Running back, Ian Wilcox's, from Hillgrove High School describes Hillgrove football and what
it means deep down to him. “It means a lot to me because the history of this school has been
around for a while and it's just like very good organization.” The people behind Hillgrove
football, from players to coaches to community supporters, are the backbone of the team’s
ongoing success.
Motivation runs deep on the Hillgrove football team, fueling every practice and every
game. Their motivation creates a strong bond that lifts the whole team and brings out their best
performance. According to MaxPreps, “Hillgrove football right now is 3-0 overall winning two
away games and a home game being currently undefeated.” Hillgrove energy is high due to their wins which brings up their motivation to continue to play with every bone in their body.
Defensive back, Lekeith Pressly, from Hillgrove high school states, “I just think about Fridays
and the food that’s coming up you know think about the pregame and you know that’s what
motivates me to keep playing and keep going through the season. The food the crowd all
motivate me” The attendance and crowd are very important for Hillgrove's big games so players
can stay motivated and continue working hard every single second of the game.At Hillgrove, sportsmanship is a core value that every player carries onto the field. Winning is important but treating others with respect and fairness is what truly defines the team.

strive to achieve excellence in every aspect of the game” Andy Szatkowski the main defensive
coach for Hillgrove explains, “Sportsmanship is very important I believe in intensity in playing
tough and physical football and have to toe that line because it is an aggressive sport, it is contact sport, but you should always respect your opponent and respect the game and try your best and sometimes you step over that line and can be difficult to toe it and not cross it.” Hillgrove football represents more than just a team it’s a community built on hard work and dedication.
