Thanksgiving is a holiday where lots of families or friends get together to eat delicious food
and desserts and get quality time with one another, but is it people's favorite holiday According
to today.yougov.com, “Christmas and Thanksgiving are widely popular and many people's
favorites.” Christmas and Thanksgiving compete every year for the top spot, but Christmas
seems to win every year. Sergio Camacho a sophomore from Hillgrove High School says, “Not
my favorite, favorite will be Christmas because all the people still come up and still come over
to eat there's always better food on Christmas and obviously get the presents on Christmas get
to do all the fun stuff outside with decorations and just a happier holiday.” Sergio strongly feels
Christmas is his favorite holiday and not Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is one of people's favorite holidays, but doesn't mean it's everyone's top rank
holiday. According to visualcapitalist.com, “Ranked second, Thanksgiving is
another big hit, with one out of five respondents saying it was a favorite. Interestingly, many
Americans try and avoid family around both times to prevent heated arguments, usually around
religion and politics.” This shows Thanksgiving real worldwide ranking and shows some step
backs why it might be held back for top tier ranking. Eli Sherman, a sophomore from Hillgrove
High School says, “I think thanksgiving would be like probably like ranked forth.” Eli shows
that Thanksgiving wouldn't be his favorite option to choose from.
Holidays are each celebrated in a unique, different way like going trick or treating for
Halloween or eating all together as a family with turkey and stuffing, but is Thanksgiving a
choice to do out of all holidays? A website called visualcapitalist.com states that 23%
of people said Thanksgiving is their favorite day because of the food and family.
Jacob Blanton, a sophomore from Hillgrove High school thinks differently, he explains
“Christmas is favorite, because it’s the celebration of baby Jesus, Thanksgiving is rank 5.”
Thanksgiving might not be people's favorite due to religious reasons, with Christmas being
everyone's choice of thanksgiving.
