For Current Newspaper Students of The Talon
As a Layout Editor for The Talon, your job is to ensure that each issue is visually appealing, well-organized, and easy to navigate. The layout should enhance the reading experience while maintaining consistency with the publication's standards. Follow this guide to create a professional and polished layout.
The Title Page sets the tone for the entire issue. It should be visually engaging while maintaining a professional look.
The Title Page should include a headline relevant to the time of year, such as:
"Hello October" (for a fall issue)
"Back to School" (for the first issue of the year)
"Springtime at Hillgrove"
Use a large, bold font for the title to grab attention.
Below the title, add a Table of Contents listing the categories and what page each section starts on.
Font: Times New Roman, Size 12 for body text (larger for the title).
Title Slot: Place the issue title at the top of the page in a bold, easy-to-read format.
Byline: The author's name should go directly under the title in a smaller font.
Image Placement: Add an image relevant to the issue and wrap text around it:
Example: The image should be on the left side, while the text wraps around it on the right and below.
The first layout page after the Title Page should showcase all Journalism students in the program.
Journalism 2 students should be listed before Journalism 1 students.
Each student should have:
Their name
A small, clear photo (school portrait or a professional-looking image)
Arrange the names and photos neatly for an organized and polished look.
Each article should be structured in a way that makes it easy to read and visually engaging.
Font: Use Times New Roman, Size 12 for body text.

Title: Place the article title in the designated slot at the top of the page.

Image Wrapping:
Each article should include at least one image, positioned on the left with text wrapping around it on the right and bottom.
Ensure the image is properly cropped and not pixelated.

Indent each paragraph.
Double-space all text for clarity.
All articles submitted on time must be included in the layout.
