At The Talon
Submitting a story for The Talon is an easy process, whether you prefer submitting in person or online. To ensure your submission is accepted, follow the steps below and make sure your article meets all the requirements.
You can submit your article in two ways:
In-Person Submission
Where: Bring your printed article to Room 2502 (Dr. George's room).
How: Drop your completed article off to Dr. George for review.
Online Submission
Where: Go to the "Submit a Story" page on The Talon’s website.
How: Upload your article directly to the site using the submission form.
Before you submit your article, ensure it meets the following criteria. Articles that fail to meet these standards will be denied:
No Excessive Violence or Vulgarity
Your article must be appropriate for a school publication. Avoid using violent or offensive language.
Minimum Word Count
Your article must be at least 300 words. If it falls short, it will be rejected, so make sure you’ve provided enough depth on your topic.
No Bias or Lack of Objectivity
Ensure your article is neutral and based on factual information. Articles with clear bias or that lack objectivity will not be accepted.
If writing an opinion piece, make sure it is clearly labeled as such.
Follow the Reverse Pyramid Style
Your article must be written in the reverse pyramid style, meaning the most important information should appear first, followed by supporting details in descending order of importance.
No Use Of AI Of ANY MEANS
Your Articles should not use any use of AI like ChatGBT or any other writing helpers.
IT WILL BE IMMEDIATELY REJECTED IF USE OF AI IS DETECTED.
Write Your Article
Write your article according to the reverse pyramid structure.
Ensure it follows the minimum word count and stays objective.
Proofread and Edit
Check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
Make sure your article adheres to the guidelines mentioned above. It’s important to submit a polished and professional piece.
Review Submission Guidelines
Double-check the guidelines to ensure your article doesn’t contain excessive violence or vulgarity.
Confirm that your article is objective and follows the proper structure.
In-Person Submission:
Print your article and bring it to Dr. George’s room (Room 2502).
Hand it directly to Dr. George for review.
Wait for feedback and revisions from the editor, if necessary.
Online Submission:
Go to the Submit a Story page on the Talon website.
Fill out the submission form with the required details (such as your name, article title, and content).
Attach your article (as a Word document or PDF).
Click Submit to send your article for review.
After you submit your article, it will be reviewed by the editorial team.
If your article meets the guidelines, it may be accepted and published in the next edition of The Talon (You will be Notified when this happens).
If your article does not meet the guidelines, Dr. George or the editor will provide feedback for corrections. You may be asked to revise and resubmit the article.
