Every year, Hillgrove High school hosts their homecoming dance in the school’s building, making it more memorable as the one before. The week before is filled with anticipation as the special day comes closer. According to the Hillgrove PTSA account on Instagram, @hillgroveptsa, it states, “Well, look at that…HOMECOMING MONTH is here. Students have some fun planned for sure, but here is a quick layout of the plan: September 8th-12th Homecoming Spirit week, September 12th Homecoming Community Parade and Game at 7:30pm.” With these events planned by the school, it provides an exciting environment for the students. On Saturday, September thirteenth, the homecoming dance took place in Hillgrove’s cafeteria and courtyard. Miles McEwen, a junior at Hillgrove, says "It's been fun so far, I've been taking pictures, walking around, good food and I'm about to go in the mosh pit so yeah I like it." Miles expresses his experience at the dance, explaining how he was having a fun time and enjoying it.
With interactive add ins like photo booths, snack tables, and a dance floor, a lot of students had an amazing time. Although, many students find themselves standing around and not having many options on what other things to do besides dancing and talking with friends. Giuseppe Della Vecchia, a junior at Hillgrove explains, "I'd add more stuff to do. Just something fun, like some type of activities." Some students can find themselves getting bored, on the other hands, the suggestion of activities can help keep students occupied. Adding stuff like an area dedicated to board games or live entertainment would help students stay busy and interested at homecoming.
The homecoming dance is an experience different for all students. Overall, it is a fun event hosted every year, allowing students to hang out and socialize with peers. With different thoughts and opinions, Hillgrove strives to make homecoming an enjoyable night for every student attending.
