Every year, homecoming is different in some way. All schools run things different, and some people participate in Homecoming Spirt week and some people do not. According to Theshakerbison.com, “Spirit Week started out slow, there were plenty of people still wearing backpacks. However, there were some fun backpack replacements including chests, laundry baskets, lampshades, coolers, shopping carts.” This shows that during the week most students do not dress up but start slowly participating when others participate. Lianna Oldham a sophomore, from Hillgrove says, “I think it's fun when everyone participates, and everyone is included and make friends.” Lianna believes if others participate, it is a clever way to fit in and introduce yourself to newer people and environment. People say homecoming games are more interesting and entertaining than regular games. High school football games are a fantastic way to interact with people and meet unfamiliar faces. According to etchedinstone.org “Some say homecoming football games are fun and can bring people together, even if they don’t like football or large crowds.” This Explains how football games are an amazing way to socialize. Layton Smith, a sophomore from Hillgrove High school claims that “I think the Homecoming game it's probably the biggest game because it's like surrounding homecoming and because it's like our home game we really want to do well” Layton explains that the homecoming is the biggest game of the year so it is good to go out to make friends and have fun.
Most students go to the homecoming dance the next day after the game, but is it worth it? As mention in conantcrier.com “Making Home coming decorations is also a
time consuming feat, especially for students who could be doing something more productive. Most clubs who participate meet several times weekly, which is significantly more than they would for the rest of the school year.” This concludes the fact that the homecoming dance might not be worth all the trouble and money. Julian Rios and sophomore at Hillgrove high school explains “I thought they could add more decorations It was kind of mid like they could of added lights” he also says “the photo booth wasn't that good one of them broke and I didn’t even get to take any photos so bad” Julians opinion on the homecoming dance shows that it was not
enjoyable as he thought it would be. If this is how one student feels how would everyone feel? The homecoming dance is not worth the time and effort the staff and students put into it.
