There are many opportunities to do clubs at Hillgrove. Beta club is just one of the many clubs that Hillgrove sponsors. According to betaclub.org “The Beta community recognizes high academic achievement rewards and nurtures worthy character, fosters leadership skills, and encourages service to others. Being a Beta means being a part of a community of leaders who are positively impacting the world.” There are many other clubs here at Hillgrove, Beta club is a nationally recognized honor society. Ms. Smith a beta club sponsor here at Hillgrove stated, “I think beta club has a good amount of publicity on our Instagram and around the school.” Many clubs tend to have a social media platform to promote their club and help with funding. Some teachers tend to have their own clubs that they fund and run, some teachers only run one club. Ms. Smith stated, “I only do beta club.” Other clubs are exceptionally good to have, running beta club is important to do. Most schools tend to have a vast number of clubs that the students can get the opportunity to be apart of. Ms. Smith stated, “I think the clubs are very involved. I think they have a lot of community outreach, and they do a lot of good things in and outside of the school.” Many clubs tend to have many actives after school hours, some clubs tend to do community service just to help. Some teachers do run clubs, but some teachers might want to help with other clubs. Ms. Smith stated, “I think if we started a history focused club, that might be something I might be interested in or even helping out with Model UN.” Many teachers have many different clubs that they have ran or want to run.
Another good club to have is FBLA. FBLA is an exceptionally good club that helps students learn about business. According to fbla.org, “FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.” FBLA can help students prepare for real life journey while still having fun. Mrs. Render a FBLA sponsor stated, “FBLA is the acronym for Future Business Leaders of America, and as I tell my students, business is what makes the world go round. So, in Future Business Leaders of America, better known as FBLA, that is one of the things that we teach daily. We teach our students to be the best that they can be, and so that they can own off businesses are work in top level management. One of the things that we say, we say it for a joke, but it's true that other students are either going to join us today or they're going to be working for us tomorrow.” Some schools offer business classes, a better alternative is FBLA. FBLA tends to look exceptional on college resumes and can help students in college. Mrs. Render stated, “One of the things they'll be able to put that on their college applications. FBLA has been around since 1967 so it is a national club and is well known. It is the largest student organization in the world, and it provides so many opportunities for networking, scholarships, and internships.” FBLA has helped over 200,000 kids getting into college and has set kids up for their careers. When being in FBLA there are things that can help students academically such as competitions. Mrs. Render stated, “Academically, you can compete in FBLA. So therefore, when the students are compared, preparing for their competitions, it also strengthens their skills in the academic classes such as English, economics, science, and math.” Being in FBLA can teach you about business it also helps with other subjects such as math and science. Being apart of FBLA has many benefits such as helping out with the community and being a part of the biggest organization in the country Mrs. Render stated,” The main benefits is, well, the main benefits are being a part of the largest organization in the world, being able to earn scholarships, being able to network, and also just setting yourself apart from other students.” Being in FBLA can help people with school and help people get scholarships.
While most clubs talk about academics FCCLA includes culinary opportunities. FCCLA offers opportunities that can help with family and careers later in life. According to fcclainc.org “ FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.” FCCLA tends to help a lot with the community and are able to give back. FCCLA helps out a lot with students and college. Chef Leverett a FCCLA advisor stated, “It looks good on your college resume, and it helps with the community.” FCCLA sponsors countless things that help with feeder schools and the community. While taking a culinary class FCCLA is usually brought up and teaches students about FCCLA. Chef Leverett stated, “because it helps you with competitions. So, we get them out. You can win scholarship money and you go to if you go to state and nationals” FCCLA offers competitions for students to do so they could get scholarships. FCCLA has sponsored many after school activities and fun stuff for families. Chef Leverett stated, “We sponsor the hawk fest, which was in the well we volunteer at a lot of the activities at the school puts on.” FCCLA makes fun activities for feeder schools for kids. Being in these clubs not only look good, they also help out with the community.
