This year's VMA’s were a success with 4.09 million viewers and the biggest artist now returning to perform at the VMAs, the award show has reached its goal in change. However, there is still room for improvement, a student at Hillgrove, Connor Darby says, “One way the VMA’s can improve is more advertisement, I am a regular watcher of the VMA’s, and I never knew it happened.” Indeed, the VMAs do not have any release date of when they begin. Connor also believes that “This also could be because the VMAs are not streamed off a major platform that many others didn't know it happened.”
Social media has also been a way to get the VMAs out there. Hillgrove Junior Reagan Williams says, “I saw it through social media, and I think VMAS gets more views through social media and gets the word out there.” This helps people be able to see it even though they cannot, which has been a huge improvement when it comes to gaining more views.
With The VMAs trying to improve views, they are also trying to appeal to the younger generation. Hillgrove Junior Gerson Zunigia says “My favorite parts about the VMAs are the costumes, the performances, and how creative people are. Also, good energy all around and creativity.” This is good because the VMAs are drawn by a younger generation. Connor Darby believes “a good way to draw in a younger audience is bringing in new artists which will appeal to them since they are more likely to influence a younger audience.” In which the VMAs brought Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, new artists who are popular with the younger generation.
With new artists coming in and winning awards and performing this gives them a chance to get themselves out there and get a new audience. Though the VMAs are still improving and trying to regain the fame and popularity they once had.
