Grove Show is a student-run content production team that began two years ago. The production team was started and is continued to be monitored by Coach Howells. Content is made by student collaboration between students that take the class. To get into the class you must be interviewed. Coming up with content can become difficult but students in the class state that they use the resources that are familiar to them. Many Groves Show students are influenced by TikTok trends, and other popular media accounts and base most of the content off what's trending. Amonie Anderson manages the TikTok account. While she enjoys running the account she understands that there are guidelines she must follow since that account represents Hillgrove, “I make sure the content is very respectful, and making sure we understand that it represents our school as a whole." Stated by Anderson, a student. Entry to the Grove show requires previous and relevant skills, such as camera work and/or camera personality. The grove show has over 3,000 followers on Instagram, and it continues to grow with each class.
Content Production is a whole different conversation. Grove Show students are required to get two “checks” per week to get a good grade. Many students in the class express how creating content is fun but can sometimes be challenging, "I would say the most difficult part is coming up with new ideas, new intriguing ideas that people are actually going to enjoy and not just like making videos." Stated by Cameron Holmes, a student in the class. Students in the class come up with five video ideas and then pick one out of the five that seems most appealing to the student body. It takes one hour to edit, and they use many different tools to enhance their videos, "Some days you can be more chill and do more easy things, and some days you do the more hard working innovative things, like going out of your way to interview people and things like that. -- must get two checks every week. They can range from a variety of things. They can be graphics, interviews, videos, TikTok's, anything of this, such that would just shed light on Grove show and grow our media source." Stated by Christina Pratt, a student in the class.
Expectedly, Grove Show tracks student interaction with the media page, and they keep note of which videos are more popular and liked by the students, “This year, we've had a lot of teachers come up and say that they have like the videos on like, for example, like crumble right now is like, a big teacher favorite. The teachers love the crumble videos. And like students love them. So, we're doing a lot of crumble videos" expressed by Cameron Holmes, a student in the class. Grove Show also takes recommendation and video ideas from the student body and is open to opionions or suggestions that Hillgrove would love to see.
It’s not easy, but the Grove Show does know how to make it look like so. With great teamwork, time management skills and amazing editing and recording skills, that crew knows how to get it done.
