Noah Olivier Smith, the rapper known as Yeat, has been around for a few years. He started rapping in 2015 under the name “Lil Yeat”, before deleting all the music from his past, and going by the name of Yeat, in 2018. His albums started going popular in 2021 after releasing his albums “4L” and “Up 2 Me”. His latest album, “LYFESTYLE” has surely gotten a lot of attention since he dropped it on the eighteenth of October, as this is his first album to go number one on the Billboard Hot 200. This album follows “2093”, which was dropped earlier this year.
Jason Airall, A senior at Hillgrove High School, favors “Lying 5 fun, Lyfestyle, and Speedball” on this album. Jason has been a Yeat fan for a long time now and Yeat’s new album seems to have had quite an impact. "His new album is absolutely extraordinary. I listened to every single song and none of them are mid at all. They are all top tier" (Jason AIrall). When it comes to Yeat’s album cover, this was something he had never done before. He used no CGI to create it, which shocked fans. "The album cover is actually fire; I really like the theme of it for the album. It really fits in perfect with the music and everything he has going on" (Jason Airall). There are a ton of things that make this album unique, not just the album cover alone. "This album is actually very different; you have a really different taste of style and sound compared to his other albums which makes this album pop and makes it stand out from the others" (Jason Airall).
Zamarion Matthews, a junior at Hillgrove High School, favors “They tell me" On the album. However, does not seem to be the biggest fan of the project itself. "I think the album is mid because all of his songs sound the same" (Zamarion Matthews). Despite not being the biggest fan of the album, there were things that he was able to enjoy while listening. "The beats on this album though, not gonna lie the beats go hard" (Zamarion Matthews). This album really brought attention to Yeat, he collaborated with new artists and experimented with new sounds and beats. But there is always room for improvement and feedback. "I would put better underground artists on there, it would definitely make his album better" (Zamarion Matthews).
Nevaeh Herrington, a junior at Hillgrove High School, favors “Orchestrate, Eliminate, and Fate” on the album. "I felt very hyped listening to the album for the first time, had heavy bass in it and hearing it in my headphones it was great" (Nevaeh Herrington). For this album, only one music video was made and that was for the song “GO2WORK”, there is no telling if there will be any more. "I think he should make a music video for Orchestrate because I feel like that would be so cool, I really feel like the song goes with the album cover so it would be perfect" (Nevaeh Herrington). This album is seen as different to fans due to all the changes in sound and beats, which is really impacting Yeat as an artist. "I think this will impact his career because he kind of experimented with this album compared to what he's normally done with his other albums"
Overall, Yeat’s new album has become very popular for many reasons. There is so much more to come, and fans will never know what to expect from him. Yeat has only grown as an artist since he first came out and with his growing fanbase and unique projects, it is only up from here for the young artist.
