Love is very fragile. Grammy nominated Laufey has trended across the internet. With over 5.4 billion streams on Spotify and more than half of her songs being used on Tik Toks, the artist has collected some fame. Laufey has also brought a new light to soft jazz music and has experimented with an abundance of melodies and orchestral tones. Her melodies combined with her lyrics have produced a melancholy and romantic tone to her music. She has been known for writing songs about heartbreak and growing up, as she is also growing herself. The idea of finding love one day has been a recurring topic in her songs. Many people, especially younger audiences, look up to her and love her music.
Laufey just came out with an album called “A Matter of Time”. The album is about love, heartbreak, friendships, and self-reflection to the next step into her life. In this album jazz is heavily influenced including orchestral chorus. Hillgrove Junior Mikayla Jones says “She's keeping the jazz. I grew up in a jazzy household, so, like, hearing Laufey and keeping the jazz alive and her playing with the orchestra really makes me feel at home.” Laufey is able to connect and hold a bond with her audience by keeping a whimsical jazz feel to her. Hillgrove Junior also says “I feel like her music is very relatable. The tone of the music really makes you think and feel exactly what she's saying, and it really connects you inside. By connecting to her fans, she can also connect with her message. Hillgrove Junior Anthony Chavez says, “She definitely is like growing up and falling in love, but she's also very mature and more deep with her music.” Even though she is 26 years old, she's still learning and growing up. Laufey tries to convey and connect with people who are also still growing up in learning not only to love but to love themselves.
Laufey is also growing up as an artist. Anthony Chavez says, “Her voice is so projected and gorgeous and it's just so nice and it just makes me feel some type of way.” With her still being new, shes developing and growing her lyrics and her sound. Laufey is also working on producing studio recording songs for her concerts and experimenting with new things. Hillgrove Senior Jayden Johnson says “her studio recordings are better, meaning that there's going to be no, like, mishaps or whatever in it. Meaning that you can listen to what she's really trying to say without all the cheering and other distractions.” When you are at loud concerts, you cannot hear her voice, and you might get distracted from the message that she is trying to convey. Laufey is an artist for people growing and falling in love, but also for heartbreak. Laufey makes it okay for people to be okay with heartbreaks and make them easier to overcome and see self-worth.
