Conflict in the music industry between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. By: Katie Ho

Recently in the music pop industry, artists Kendrick Lamar and Drake have been going back and forth with each-other. Both artists have been supposably “dissing” each-other, their career, and personal lives. This topic has been trending largely on social media and among teenagers. Though both artists have enormous platforms, many fans have shifted fandoms as result of the drama. Currently, Drake losing his reputation after accusations of pedophilia.

   Though it was an un-expected when the battle between Kendrick and Drake surfaced all over the media, the situation escalated quite quickly. Students at Hillgrove High School were shocked and were able to express their opinions on the situation. “I think the drama started when J Cole made the song where he said he’s apart of the big three, that it’s him and Drake and Kendrick, but Kendrick took it as like no I’m above you guys.” McKenna Hawkins, a student at Hillgrove stated. “I’m not surprised, I knew something was off about Drake.” McKenna included. “I was surprised and not at the same time, Drake always felt suspicious.” Asia Gambrell, another student at Hillgrove added. Both students supposably on the same page about the conflict and opinions on Drake.

   As seen, Drake’s platform isn’t sturdy. Many fans have switched their fandom and many pop fans are unsure about his come-back. “I feel like Drake is never going to come back, and if he does it won’t be a successful comeback.” Asia Gambrell claimed. She added, “Everyone’s making jokes out of it, he doesn’t even have fans anymore”. Currently, many spectators of the drama are insisting that Drake’s ego won’t be as large and successful after the whole situation, claiming this is his “down fall”.

   The drama has toned down ever since it’s begun, however Drake is still struggling to redeem himself. Results of the conflict between both artists have escalated deep, stripping away Drake’s reputation and fan-base while building Kendricks at the same time. This situational conflict both caused shock for the music industry and entertainment for the other.
