Cardi B’s latest album ‘’Am I the Drama’, has ignited many conversations across the music scene, three high schoolers were interviewed on their thoughts regarding the album.
Jarren Anthony, who is known for his social media presence, connected the album’s exploration of navigating throughout conflict and relationships. ’Cardi’s always been real about ups and downs, which is what Jarren said ‘’She has grown as she came from a job that may not be appropriate but now, she is a mom and she is happy in her life as she is expressing her new life in her songs’’ Based on Jarren’s critique one can infer that this album may feel different ,like she is dissecting the drama and showing us how to rise above it. Which can be a very inspiring message as social media does indeed come with a lot of drama.
Nehamiah Champion with keen interest in social justice, appreciated the album moments and the vulnerability and self-reflection and confidence. ‘’Everyone loves my girl cardi she is baddie’’. Which shows how cardi remains confident. Which is refreshing to see someone so famous be real. It reminds us that everyone struggles, no matter how successful they seem. The students also discussed the albums potential impact on their generation, many say that cardi is influential but other like Suzzane Nikkitta who said that cardi b is not a good influence and she didn’t seem to enjoy the album as much as Nehamiah and Jarren. ‘’ she is not a good role model as she is always loud and aggressive’ Which is how she described the album she said the entire album. ‘’ Cardi is loud aggressive, and she puts it in her music very often.
Overall, Jarren, Nehamiah agreed that the album was amazing and a way cardi chose to address the events taking place in her life while Suzzane Niketta felt otherwise that ‘’ Cardi was only doing this for entertainment ‘’. But most of the students appreciated the thought-provoking album.
